Why Touching Your Toes Is a No No for Hiking

A lot of people like to warm up by “touching their toes” and while that does stretch out the muscle it also has a tendency to work against your back. When you stretch this way you are putting a mechanical force on the intervertebral discs , which are on the front side of the spine, forcing fluid out of them. If your stretching milks some of that fluid from the disc you’re compromising some of the shock absorption of your spine and making yourself a little more prone to injury. #stretching #backinjury #strongcore #strongback
