More Inmates In For Drug Charges Than All In 1980

During a discussion of the nation's criminal justice system and sentencing policies on Saturday, Marc Mauer, executive director of the Sentencing Project, pointed out that there are more inmates incarcerated on drug charges today than the entire prison population in nineteen eighty. He calls for immediate action to reduce harsh sentencing and promote "rebuilding of trust" in the system.
