How Oscar Winners Are Tabulated

Oscar votes are now counted in an instant-runoff, meaning that the widest consensus film will win. Academy Award voters will rank the films nominated for Best Picture, for instance, and then an independent group of tabulators PricewaterhouseCoopers will count them up. The first film to score 50% of the vote for number 1 wins.
